Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions represent an agreement between the two parties being; Arabic Courses (Us) and the Student (You). The objectives of these terms and conditions is to facilitate the best possible learning environment and experience for you the student. These terms and conditions are deemed to be binding upon the student following enrolment to any course not upon registration. Upon enrolment to any course the student hereby agrees to abide by the following:

Clothing

  • Every student upon enrolment to any class is required to dress in accordance with the Sharee’ah.
    • For males this means clothing must cover the mans ‘Awrah’ and must not reveal ones chest, or shoulders (in accordance with the clothing requirements for prayer).
    • Hijaab must be worn by all Muslim sisters in front of any male teachers. The characteristics of the minimum required Hijaab are stipulated in appendix one to this agreement.
  • Clothing that contains pictures are not allowed, as the angels do not enter houses that have in them a dog or pictures of things that have a soul.

Asking questions and general manners

  • Every student has the right to ask well intended question related to the lesson without rebuke, however, every student is required to observe the proper Islamic etiquettes when asking.
  • Every student is required to either write down their question or raise their hand before asking. Every student is kindly requested not to shout out in class or while the teacher is teaching the lesson.
  • It is desired that questions tutors direct to individual students are answered by the selected student. As such it is NOT allowed for other students to shout out, or ‘whisper’ the answer to the student being questioned. Every student should be given the opportunity to think for themselves, and persistence in shouting out answers or whispering the answers to them will result in their actions being recorded on their permanent record and could affect their acceptance in future lessons.

Student interaction

  • Students are required to respect their fellow colleagues and teachers. This means that rude behaviour, sarcasm, and general disrespect will not be tolerated. Failure to do so could lead to disciplinary action including potential expulsion from lessons without a refund.
  • Any rebuke or correction of another student is the sole right and responsibility of the teacher. If anyone feels that another student is behaving incorrectly, then the teacher or administration should be informed immediately so the teacher or the Arabic Courses administration can address the matter in the most appropriate and effective way.

Homework, Attendance and lateness

  • Every student is required to complete all homework when given in accordance with the respective deadlines stipulated by the teacher. Failure to do so will be logged into the students permanent online record. This record represents the tool utilised by Arabic Courses in evaluating students’ needs, progress and performance. A positive student record which suggests the student is fulfilling his / her duties and is meeting the demands of the course could earn the student extra ‘Unit Points’. ‘Units Point’ entitle the student to a number of potential benefits that can be gained upon completion of each unit, and with other achievements.
  • Every student is required to attend every lesson once booked and to arrive to lessons on time. Failure to attend without a valid excuse or constant lateness will be noted on the student’s permanent online record.

Exams

  • It is expected that students will sit Exams at the end of each Unit. This will be a pre-defined exam, and the date will be established on the first day of lesson. Exams are utilised as part of Arabic Course to add rigour to our courses to ensure students make the required level of progress. They should be seen as an incentive and a tool for the student to make the most out of their learning experience. Failure to attend an exam without a valid excuse could hinder the student’s progress. It is noted that where a failure to complete an exam on the part of the student requires its completion, at a rearranged date this could incur extra costs for students. Students are strongly advised therefore that they complete their exams per the pre arranged dates.

Progress and Unit Completion

  • No student will be able to progress to the next level within the Arabic Courses syllabus structure unless they have completed and passed the exams of the relevant prerequisite courses or shown their competence at the selected level.
  • All online exams will require the student to log in, and complete their exam within the stated time limit, students are not allowed to use their notes, or any other materials pertaining to their exam.
  • The student is reminded that a failure to comply with this rule in accordance with the saying of the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه و سلّم “whoever cheats us, is not from us”. will result in a sin on the day of judgement, and will have lasting affects on future lessons.
